A breakthrough in developing organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) and associative learning by organic electrochemical devices

Dr Paddy K.L. Chan, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and his teams had worked on two research topics “Sub-thermionic, ultra-high-gain organic transistors and circuits” and “Mimicking associative learning using an ion-trapping non-volatile synaptic organic electrochemical transistor”.
HKIE Gold Medal awarded to Professor Norman Ko Wah-Man

Congratulations to Professor Norman Ko Wah-Man, for receiving the prestigious HKIE Gold Medal 2021 award from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the society and the engineering profession.
Professor Hu Chenming conferred the HKU Honorary Degree

Professor Hu Chenming, “Father of the 3D Transistor”, was conferred “Doctor of Science honoris causa” by the University in recognition of his valuable contributions to the world or to humanity, and also to those who have made significant contributions to academia, Hong Kong or the University.
COVID-19 Engineering Lecture Series - Predicting COVID-19 Case Numbers: A Machine Learning Approach

The third COVID-19 Engineering Lecture Series “Predicting COVID-19 Case Numbers from Government Policy Responses: A Machine Learning Approach” was conducted on April 28, 2021 by Dr Hao Luo of Department of Computer Science and Department of Social Work and Social Administration.
Five winning student teams of InnoShow to take part in international design competitions

The forth Engineering InnoShow "All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today” showcased a number of innovative Engineering student projects at Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing on May 4, 2021, where engineering students demonstrate their project to the judges.
Staff achievements

Professor Z.Q. Quentin Yue and Professor Yang Jun of Department of Civil Engineering received high ranks among PRC scientists in Geological & Geomatics Engineering from the world published by Fuzhou University according to the data of the World’s Top 2% most-cited scientists by Stanford University.
Student achievements

The Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) of HKU hosted the 24th Recognition Ceremony on April 10, 2021 to recognise the exceptional achievements of nearly 200 students. Among the awardees, 10 students received the “Above & Beyond Award” and 3 of them are from Faculty of Engineering.
