Professor Kazuhiro Kosuge delivered distinguished lecture on “Universal Manipulation for a next generation of industrial robots”

After giving an interesting lecture on dancing robots in October 2017, Professor Kazuhiro Kosuge, Hung Hing Ying Distinguished Visiting Professor in Science and Technology, delivered another public lecture on “Universal Manipulation for a next generation of industrial robots” on October 16, 2018.
A ME team received Gold Medal and two awards in International Invention Innovation Competition of iCAN 2018

A ME team, comprised of Professor Dennis Leung, Dr Wang Yi Fei, Ms Kwok Y.H. and Mr Pan Wending, received a Gold Medal Award, iCAN 2018 Special Inventor Award and IFIA Best Invention Award at the International Invention Innovation Competition of iCAN 2018 with their project titled “A flexible paper-based AI-air battery”.
Civil Engineering organized public seminar on “the mystery of ground settlement”

In response to the recent public concerns on ground and structures settlements, a seminar was jointly organized by the Faculty of Engineering, the Department of Civil Engineering and the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers on September 26, 2018.
Two HKU Engineering teams won top prizes at national “Mobile Application Innovation Contest”

An Engineering team won a First Prize Award with their app "Air Guitar" at the “2018 China Collegiate Computing Contest – 3rd Mobile Application Innovation Contest” co-organised by Zhejiang University and Apple Inc. Another HKU team won a Second Prize Award with the app “Luminosite”, which uses navigation and AI obstacle detection technology to provide surrounding information to people who are visually impaired.
