Symposium on Structural Design of Buildings in Era of off-site Prefabrication organised by Department of Civil Engineering and supported by American Society of Civil Engineers (Great China Section), Institution of Civil Engineers, Hong Kong Association Structural Division, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, was successfully held on April 20, 2023.
The contingent of speakers was made up of internationally renowned researchers and professional leaders from prestigious institutions in Hong Kong and The University of Melbourne, and endeavoured to develop new building technologies in the prefabrication and modularisation theme. The symposium was specifically targeted at the needs of engineers who were engaged in the structural design of buildings. Key concepts relevant to modularisation, structural design, and offsite manufacturing were introduced and illustrated by case studies.
