The Best Paper Award (Second Place) in the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA'19) workshop on Surgical Robots

May 24, 2019

The team received the Best Paper Award (2nd place) for a paper entitled “Experimental Validation of Autonomous Motion Control with Standard Cardiac Electrophysiology Catheter”.

Congratulations to Dr Kwok Ka-wai of Department of Mechanical Engineering and his team for winning the Best Poster Paper (Second Place) at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2019 in Montreal, Canada!

The ICRA is the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society’s flagship conference and the premier international forum for robotics researchers to present and discuss their work. Workshops on different topics were organised for more in-depth discussion.

At the workshop on “Open Challenges and State-of-the-Art in Control System Design and Technology Development for Surgical Robotic Systems”, a total of 26 papers were presented. Our team, which comprised of Dong Ziyang, Wang Xiaomei, He Zhuoliang, Justin D.L. Ho (ME RPg students), Tao Yufu (BEng(ME)) and two research fellows Tang Wai Lun (ME, HKU) and Dr Alex Lee (PWH, CUHK), delivered a presentation on “Experimental Validation of Autonomous Motion Control with Standard Cardiac Electrophysiology Catheter". After election by a committee formed by the workshop organizers and world renowned speakers from Stanford University, Imperial College London, Johns Hopkins University, Harvard Medical School, Auris Health Inc., etc, our team was selected as the Best Paper Award (Second Place).
