Professor Kaibin Huang honoured with IEEE Wireless Communications Technical Committee (WTC) Recognition Award for 2025

Professor Kaibin Huang of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been honoured with the IEEE Wireless Communications Technical Committee (WTC) Recognition Award for 2025.

 

This award is given annually to individuals who have a high degree of visibility and made outstanding contributions to the fields of wireless communications, including theory, systems, and networks.   

Professor Kaibin Huang is the Philip K H Wong Wilson K L Wong Professor in Electrical Engineering and the Department Head at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. Professor Huang has advanced wireless communication technologies from 4G to 6G, tackling key challenges in increasing data rates, extending network lifespan, and enhancing network intelligence. He has received numerous awards and recognitions. He was elected as a Fellow of the IEEE in 2021 and U.S. National Academy of Inventors in 2024. He has been named as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate in the last seven years (2019-2025) and an AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar (Top 30 in Internet of Things) in 2023-2025. He was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer in 2021-2022 and awarded a Croucher Senior Research Fellowship in 2025.

 

Professor Edith Ngai named 2025 ACM Distinguished Member

Professor Edith Cheuk Han Ngai of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been named a 2025 ACM Distinguished Member by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society. She is recognized for her contributions to Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile edge computing. 

 

ACM has named 61 new Distinguished Members worldwide in 2025. All inductees are registered members selected by their peers for outstanding technical achievements and/or volunteer service.
