Professor Kaibin Huang awarded Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2026

Professor Kaibin Huang, Philip K H Wong Wilson K L Wong Professor in Electrical Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at HKU, has been awarded the prestigious Croucher Senior Research Fellowship 2026.

Presented by the Croucher Foundation, this esteemed award recognises Professor Huang’s pioneering work in 6G mobile communications and sensor-level computing — areas that reinforce HKU’s leadership in next-generation wireless innovation. As one of Hong Kong’s most competitive academic awards, the fellowship is awarded following a rigorous selection process involving international peer review and extensive deliberation. Recipients receive funding up to HK$3 million to advance their groundbreaking research.

 

Honoured to be awarded this prestigious fellowship, Professor Huang said: "I am deeply honoured by this recognition, which strengthens my commitment to advancing over-the-air computing technology and rethinking how information is processed within wireless networks. In the long term, my goal is to help build intelligent wireless networks that can distribute AI power to every corner of the earth, making advanced intelligence a truly global resource.”
