On October 9, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with the HKU Engineering Alumni Association (HKUEAA), hosted the HKU Engineering Alumni Reunion Reception cum Faculty Recognition Ceremony at Loke Yew Hall.
The event brought together over 200 alumni, faculty members, guests, and students, representing more than six decades of engineering wisdom alongside the bright energy of our current students.

Before the official programme began, students from three flagship programmes — BEng (Elite) and BEng X + MScEng in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Global Engineering and Business Programme (GEBP) — participated in an exclusive networking session with advisors and representatives from HKUEAA, fostering mentorship and professional connections.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome to our most senior alumnus, Ir Edmund Leung (Mechanical Engineering, Class of 1967), an Honorary University Fellow of HKU.

Professor David Srolovitz, Dean of Engineering, shared the Faculty’s latest developments and achievements at his opening remarks. Ir Johnny Chan, Vice-President of Student Affairs at HKUEAA, then introduced the Association’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and the upcoming Annual Dinner in 2026.
The keynote address, “From Blueprint to Legacy – Five Extraordinary Decades of Protecting and Transforming Life”, was delivered by our distinguished alumnus Ir Professor Mak Chai Kwong, GBS, JP, Honorary Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, reflecting on Hong Kong’s transformation and the Faculty’s shared journey.
