a. CDS FinTech Student Achieves Champion in InnoFamily Award’s Grand Final

Miss Yi Yeung Yau, a Year 4 FinTech student at the School of Computing & Data Science (CDS), has been crowned champion in this year’s Grand Final of the InnoFamily Award!

The competition, part of the Jockey Club SMART Family‑Link Project, brought together over 200 students from 14 local tertiary institutions to design tech-driven solutions with the aim of enhancing family well-being. Ms Yau teamed up with peers from the University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Shue Yan University to form “GingFM”, who impressed the judging panel with their visionary SEN Parenting Eco System. Their proposal offers vital support to caregivers of children with special educational needs, demonstrating the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and social innovation.

Jianhuan Zeng, Xiao Li, Zenan Zhang

The research project focuses on decentralised collaboration in smart construction, this study introduces a multimodal dataset that integrates physiological data from smartwatches (Heart Rate Variability, HRV) and synchronized visual data (92 worksite videos). Collected from 17 male workers (including those in high-risk roles such as crane operators and truck drivers) across three active construction sites, this dataset addresses two critical industry challenges which are data scarcity and privacy concerns.
