Professor Xiaojuan Qi of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been named among the 35 Innovators Under 35 for China in 2024 by MIT Technology Review, a technology publication founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.

Professor Qi was recognised for her contributions to advancing artificial intelligence in 3D vision. Her work focuses on equipping AI systems with advanced 3D spatial intelligence, allowing them to perceive, understand, and interact with the three-dimensional world. Her pioneering work includes 3D environment reconstruction and understanding in open-world settings, foundational model for 3D texture generation, 3D self-training methods. Her research has significant implications for medicine and biology.

The peer-reviewed annual award was established by MIT Technology Review in 1999 to recognise outstanding young innovators under the age of 35. In 2010, it launched the regional awards to recognise the effort by young talent from different countries and regions around the world.
