Professor Yi Wang of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been honoured with the 2025 IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award for his contributions to data analytics and forecasting in smart distribution grids. Notably, Professor Wang is the first awardee from Asia and China since the award was established in 1988.

The IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award was established to recognise young engineers “for outstanding contributions in the leadership of technical society activities, including local and/or transnational PES and other technical societies, leadership in community and humanitarian activities, and evidence of technical competence through significant engineering achievements.
