The Faculty of Engineering of The University of Hong Kong (HKU Engineering) and the Global Institute of Future Technology (GIFT) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the academic partnership of the two universities on 22 May 2025.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Professor David Srolovitz, Dean of HKU Engineering and Professor Ni Jun, Dean of SJTU GIFT. They were accompanied by Professor Lu Yang, Associate Dean of HKU Engineering and Professor Bao Hua, Associate Dean of SJTU GIFT.
This collaboration aims to establish a structured framework for academic exchange, including provisions for outstanding undergraduate students from SJTU GIFT to be considered for early admission to HKU Engineering's PhD programme. This partnership marks a significant milestone in reaffirming both universities’ commitment to fostering research excellence and nurturing future leaders in engineering and technology.
