Championship at the HKAE Pitch Competition for University Students 2024-25
A team of undergraduate students from HKU Engineering has clinched the championship at the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE) Pitch Competition on Grand Challenge Engineering Topics for University Students 2024-25. This year’s competition, themed “Smart and Sustainable Engineering Using Advanced Materials, Robotics, and AI to Enhance Quality of Life and Health,” brought together student teams from seven local universities to compete.
The winning project, InnoGrow, introduces an innovative laser-based weed control system designed to promote sustainable agriculture.
Project name: InnoGrow: Smart Weeding Solutions for a Sustainable Future

28th Recognition Ceremony
The 28th Recognition Ceremony, organised by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) at HKU, was held on April 26, at Rayson Huang Theatre, HKU. The Ceremony aims to honour and celebrate the outstanding achievements and exemplary attitudes of HKU’s finest students from different backgrounds and to inspire the university community to learn from their dedication.
