HKUEAA 50th Anniversary Annual Dinner

The H.K.U. Engineering Alumni Association (HKUEAA) celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala dinner on April 26 at the Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong. The dinner was attended by over 600 alumni, faculty members, students, and guests. With a celebration theme of "Honouring Our Past, Shaping Our Future", it emphasises the commitment to preserving heritage while embracing future innovations and challenges.

 

Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), joined the celebration and shared the latest development of HKU, including insights on how HKU is evolving to embrace the opportunities brought by recent technological advancements, reinforcing its role as a leading institution in engineering education and innovation. Ir Chiang Tung-keung, President of HKUEAA outlined the association’s efforts, in collaboration with the HKU Faculty of Engineering, to strengthen alumni networks, support young engineers, and advance the industry. Ir Michael Fong Hok-shing, Vice President (Events and Programmes) of the HKUEAA delivered a closing speech to highlight the upcoming celebratory events.

 

Professor David Srolovitz, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Engineering presented certificate to the recipient of the HKUEAA Scholarship 2024-2025. The philanthropic scholarship is offered by HKUEAA with the aim to support undergraduate students who display leadership qualities and show interest in community affairs to participate in activities that would broaden their horizons and enhance the development of their leadership qualities.

 

The awardee list is as follows:

Miss Fung Tsoi-ying, BEng in Civil Engineering, Year 3

Mr Poon Man-to, BEng in Computer Engineering, Year 2

Mr Sun Shengyao, BEng in Computer Engineering, Year 3
