Professor Kaibin Huang Named Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors

Professor Kaibin Huang from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was elected a Fellow of the 2024 cohort of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) in recognition of his inventions and contributions in tackling real-world issues.

 

As one of the few non-US based NAI Fellows, Professor Huang is the third NAI Fellow at HKU. Election to NAI Fellow status is the highest professional distinction accorded to academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.

 

Professor Huang’s pioneering research and patents have significantly contributed to the advancement of enabling technologies for the 4G, 5G and 6G mobile networks. His innovations in multi-antenna communications, wirelessly powered communication, mobile edge computing, and edge AI have been widely embraced by both academia and top ICT companies including Huawei, Apple, and LG Electronics.
