The HKU Virtual Information Day 2021 for Undergraduate Studies was held on October 30. On the day, besides the virtual booths, the Faculty had organised a series of virtual admissions talks and the webinar, which allowed audiences to learn about various programmes and latest admissions information of HKU Engineering. In addition, the Faculty had arranged the “Engineering Guided Visits” on November 6 to let prospective students to get to know more about the Engineering programmes and visiting the state-of-the-art facilities and the laboratories of the Faculty and Departments in person. Virtual Admissions Talk

Two sessions of admissions talks were arranged for each programme, and a total of 19 admissions talks were delivered. The admissions talks covered  the FOCUS, highlights and update of the undergraduate programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Data Science, FinTech, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Science, Global Business and Engineering Programme, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Mechincal Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and HKU-Cambridge Joint Recruitment Scheme. The sessions were well received and audience actively raised questions during the Q&A session.

Facilitated by Dr Calvin K.L. Or, Chairman of the Engineering Admissions Committee, a webinar with the topic of “Engineering Study in HKU” was organized on the day. Dr Edith C.H. Ngai, Member of Engineering Admissions Committee and two Year 4 students Wan Lap Yin Wilson and Muhammad Saad Shahid Anwel whom were studying Civil Engineering and Computer Engineering respectively were invited to share their study experience at HKU with the audiences. The session focused on latest information about the HKU Engineering Programmes including the new programme “Data Science and Engineering” for which will be launched in next academic year as well as their experiential learning experience during their studies at  HKU. 

Engineering Guided Visits

Dr Calvin K.L. Or, Chairman of the Engineering Admissions Committee introduced the programmes of Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty had arranged the Engineering Guided Visits, a physical visit activities, on November 6 to the respective secondary school  students. Pre-registered students got the chance to visit different Engineering laboratories and Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, as well as gaining hands on experience such as VR application and face-to-face enquiry session with Engineering Professors.
