HKU Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student 2018-19

Dr Zhu Guangxu, a PhD graduate under the supervision of Dr Kaibin Huang of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was selected as one of the recipients of the University’s Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student for the academic year 2018-19.

 

HKU Scholarship for Future Leaders

The University established the HKU Scholarship for Future Leaders in the 2019/20 academic year to support talented students from developing countries to pursue their dreams at HKU. Michael Obeng, a student from Ghana, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree at HKU, is one of the recipients of the Scholarship. Michael is the world’s 1% SAT top scorer with a total SAT score of 1560. Being admitted to the Faculty of Engineering, Michael hopes to learn about nanotechnology which he thinks this will revolutionise modes of transportation. He aspires to create nanotech-incorporated cars, trains and drones that could move everywhere without spatial constraints, effectively cancelling out traffic jams and eventually eliminating motor accidents.

First Prize Award (Group) at the BSOMES Research Prize 2020 Competition

A capstone student project by a group of Mechanical Engineering students comprised of Chan Chun-shing, Cheung Kin-yeung, Natalie Leung Hin-man and Tam Chon-hong won the First Prize Award (Group) at the BSOMES Research Prize Competition. They received a cash prize of HK$3,000 and award certificates for their achievement.
