Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award 2018-19

Dr H.H. Cheung of Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering was awarded the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award 2018-19.

Dr K.S. Lui and her team (Professor Edmund Lam, Dr Vincent Tam and Dr Joe Yuen) of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering have been selected as the recipient of the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award 2018-19 (Team Award).

 

Faculty Knowledge Exchange Award 2019

Dr Wei Pan

Dr Pan Wei of the Department of Civil Engineering won the Faculty Knowledge Exchange Award with his project "‘Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) for Buildings of Higher Quality, Productivity and Sustainability in Hong Kong".

 

 

Fellow of Energy Institute

Dr Philip Pong

Dr Philip Pong of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been elected as the Fellow of the Energy Institute (EI). The EI is the chartered professional membership body bringing global energy expertise together. Fellow is the highest level of membership in EI, recognising professional who play a key role in driving the profession forward. EI has now over 20,000 members and only 5% of its members are fellows. Dr Pong is one of the thirteen fellows who are aged under 40.

 

 

Young Scientist Award at the Microsystems and Nanoengineering Summit 2019

Dr Anderson Shum

Dr Anderson Shum (2nd from left) of Department of Mechanical Engineering was awarded the Young Scientist Award in the Microsystems and Nanoengineering Summit 2019, a symposium to gather leading scientists in M/NEMS in the world with outstanding scientists and young researchers in China to discuss the state-of-the-art and the future of micro- and nano-sensing technology.

 

 

TensorFlow Award for developing course materials

Dr Loretta Choi and Dr Dirk Schnieders

Dr Loretta Choi (left) and Dr Dirk Schnieders (right) of the Department of Computer Science received funding from TensorFlow for developing the course materials of "COMP3359 Artificial Intelligence Applications" and "COMP7404 Computational Intelligence and Machine Learning" respectively.

TensorFlow is an end-to-end open source platform for machine learning which includes a deep learning library. The goal for the awards is to support the design, development, and execution of machine learning courses that include a practical component using open source libraries.
