With a view to providing a platform for parents of the freshmen of BEng programme to better understand the Faculty and the first year experience of new students, a sharing session - “Connecting HKU Engineering” - was held on August 26, 2015 at the Rayson Huang Theatre. This year we received an encouraging number of around 230 freshmen parents joining us to understand the Faculty’s vision in grooming their children to become future leaders. Parents were very enthusiastic to learn about student’s campus life as well as the ample opportunities that lie ahead.
One of the programme highlights was sharing from parents and students. This year, we were honoured to have Mr. Fong Chun Yau to share his very special experience with the audience. Mr. Fong graduated from this University in 1978 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then joined ATAL Engineering Limited and built a very successful career. What makes Mr. Fong's experience special is that his daughter studied Mechanical Engineering in HKU, and then his son also graduated from HKU Mechanical Engineering in HKU. As if the Fong's family do not have enough mechanical engineers, Mr. Fong's son-in-law is also a HKU Mechanical Engineering graduate.
