Six HKU Engineering research projects awarded over HK$33 million in research fundings

Six outstanding research projects from HKU Engineering were awarded over HK$33 million in three research fundings. Here are the details of the funded projects:

Innovation and Technology Fund

The Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) administered by the Innovation and Technology Commission, aims to increase the added value, productivity and competitiveness of our economic activities. The Government hopes that, through the ITF, Hong Kong companies could be encouraged and assisted to upgrade their technological level and introduce innovative ideas to their businesses.

Smart Traffic Fund

Smart Traffic Fund provides funding support to local organisations or enterprises for conducting research and application of innovation and technology with the objectives of enhancing commuting convenience, enhancing efficiency of the road network or road space, and improving driving safety. Our project awarded the highest amount of funding in the category, representing a recognition of our commitment and expertise in transportation technology.

Green Tech Fund

Green Tech Fund is to fund research and development (R&D) projects which help Hong Kong decarbonise and enhance environmental protection. Local public research institutions, R&D centres and private companies undertaking these projects can now get better and more focused funding support. With governments, corporations and institutions around the world emphasise more on environmental, social, and governance (ESG), being awarded Green Tech Fund is an encouragement to our faculty members in contributing to the well-being of society.
