Most of the events on the Alumni Day are on a walk-in basis as indicated on website, including Innovation Wing Adventures, “Technology for Future” exhibition at Innovation Wing Two, movie and documentary screenings, campus tours, library and museum visits, and game etc.

Distinguished Talk - HKU Engineering: Transcending the Past, Present, Future, by Professor Alfonso Ngan

Discover the rich heritage of HKU Engineering, one of the founding faculties at HKU. Journey through time within the iconic Main Building, where the first batch of engineers in Hong Kong were born. Explore how the Faculty has transcended boundaries and made its mark in modern engineering. Join us as we dive into the past, present, and future, uncovering groundbreaking research and innovations that shape our world today.

For alumni registered to the talk, please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the talk to ensure smooth check-in process. Available seats in MB201 will be offered to walk-in guests after the event has started on a first-come-first-served basis.

A simultaneous live broadcast session will also be held in MB217, welcoming all walk-in guests.

Innovation Wing Adventures (WALK-IN)

Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing One aims to unleash students’ creativity by entrusting them to spearhead ambitious innovation and technology projects that will shape the future. The iconic facility of the Faculty of Engineering is located at the heart of the campus, offering 2,400m2 of space with state-of-the-art resources and a supportive environment. Come and join the guided tour and explore more about our equipment and facilities, and more importantly, interact with some of our student project teams!

Children accompanied by parents are welcome!

Time: 14:00-17:00 (Guided tours every 15 minutes)

Sessions of Event: Guided tours every 15 minutes, last tour starts at 16:30

Guided Lab Tours at imseCAVE

The imseCAVE is an advanced, large scale Full Body Immersive Virtual Reality System that offers vivid  and interactive immersive experience with real-time motion capture. Developed by the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at The University of Hong Kong, it is a low-cost, high-performance virtual reality solution for design, analysis, and training in complex engineering systems. The imseCAVE has been successfully deployed in various industries, including aviation, logistics, safety, security, education, and healthcare. Its versatility and power make it a valuable tool for cost-effective operations and situation-based training.

Time: 13:00-17:00  (Pre-registration required)

Sessions of Event: Guided tours every 30 minutes (last tour starts at 16:30)

Capacity: 15 per session

Location: HW1-7, Haking Wong Building, Main Campus

Technology for Future Exhibition (WALK-IN)

Thirteen cutting-edge engineering research projects led by our Engineering Professors are exhibited. From the videos and displays, visitors will be equipped with knowledge of rationales underlying these projects and their methodologies to tackle the grand challenges. Further through interactive prototypes and functional exhibits in Innovation Wing Two, visitors will get even more detailed knowledge about how these research ideas have been translated into reality and create impact to our Future.
