Professor Kenneth K.Y. Wong, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Professor Yin Xiaobo of the Department of Mechanical Engineering were promoted as new fellow of the Society of for Optics and Photonics Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) 2022. Professor Wong and Professor Yin were among the fifty-eight newly elected fellows of this year.

Fellows are members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics, and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement and for their service to the general optics community and to SPIE in particular.

SPIE serving 255,000 constituents from 183 countries, the not-for-profit society advances emerging technologies through interdisciplinary information exchange, continuing education, publications, patent precedent, and career and professional growth.
