2021 IEEE PES Prabha S. Kundur Power System Dynamics and Control Award

Professor David J Hill, Emeritus Professor and Honorary Professor of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering received the 2021 IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Prabha S. Kundur Power System Dynamics and Control Award to recognised his outstanding contributions to the understanding and control of the dynamics of the power system.

PES provides the world's largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public.

IEEE Communications Society’s 2021 Best Survey Paper Award

Dr Huang Kaibin of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and other collaborators, including his former Ph.D. student Dr You Changsheng awarded the IEEE Communications Society’s 2021 Best Survey Paper for their work entitled "A Survey on Mobile Edge Computing: The Communication Perspective" published in the IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials (Vol: 19, Issue: 4, Fourthquarter 2017).

The IEEE Communications Society Paper Awards honors the contributions of members and individuals who advance communications technology through published papers in ComSoc sponsored or co-sponsored publications.

Civil Engineering Professor invited to deliver prestigious lecture

Professor Yang Jun of the Department of Civil Engineering has been selected as the Zeng Guoxi Lecturer 2022, in recognition of his achievements in the field of geotechnical engineering.

The named lecture series, established in 2007, is to mark the great contributions of the late Professor Zeng Guoxi, one of China’s pioneers in geotechnical research, education and practice and the founding leader of the geotechnical program at Zhejiang University, who joined the university’s faculty shortly after his postgraduate studies at the Northwestern University in the US in 1950. It is a great honour for Professor Yang to be added to the list of Zeng Guoxi Lecturers which is comprised of prominent academics and researchers from around the world including seven distinguished members of Chinese Academies of Sciences and Engineering.

Dr. M.M. Hu, Assistant Professor (Geotechnical Engineering) of the Department of Civil Engineering won the Best Paper Award (Oral) for her presentation entitled “Chemo-mechanical models for acidizing assisted hydro-fracturing” at the 2nd International Conference on Coupled Processes in Fractured Geological Media: Observation, Modeling, and Application (COUFRAC2020) organised by Inernational Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering.
