Computer Science student team won the first place of Hong Kong blockchain developer hackathon
The HKU team “BTCHoli” won the first place at the first blockchain hackathon in Hong Kong organised by MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, Algorand Foundation, and HashKey Group between February 26 to 28, 2021.
The team “BTCHoli” created “Block Estate” an end to end, fully functioning blockchain-based product during the 48-hour hacking. Team members of "BTCHoli" included four BEng (CompSc) Year 4 students, Rajat JAIN, Naman SHAH, Pranav TALWAR, Varun SINGH, and one BEcon&Fin Year 4 student, Saksham BHALOTHIA.
Besides “BTCHoli”, the other two teams from HKU “ATOM” and “AlgoTrust” also performed very well, both teams were entered to the final and received the 4th and 5th places.
Students of Mechanical Engineering won the 9th Greater China Design Competition
The University of Hong Kong received the champion of the 9th Greater China Design Competition organised by Institution of Mechanical Engineers Hong Kong Branch.
The event was conducted on March 27, 2021 and the competition topic this year was “Climbing Robot for Removing Light Bulb”. Participants were required to design an autonomous tree climbing robot as a solution to mitigate the risk arisen from harvesting tree fruits.
