The HKU Virtual Information Day 2020 was held on October 31. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Faculty was not able to conduct the event physically in HKU Campus. However, the Faculty had prepared a lot of virtual events for the potential applicants to get to know more about HKU Engineering. These activities included: the virtual admissions talks, virtual lab tours, and webinars that covering different topics to let audiences have a better understand about Faculty of Engineering. Whenever audiences had any questions, they could also live chat with the programme representatives immediately.

On the day, Department of Biomedical Engineering had organised 2 virtual admissions talks presented by Professor Kevin Tsia (Programmer director of Biomedical Engineering) to introduce the “10 Facts About Biomedical Engineering the Experts Won't Tell You”. The talks were well received and the participants were able to live chat with Professor Tsia through the online platform right after the talks..

Besides the Virtual Admissions Talks, the Faculty has also arranged a webinar with topic “Engineering Study in New Norm”. Faciliated by Professor Kenneth Wong, Chairman of the Engineering Admissions Committee, the webinar was presented by Professor Edmund Lam, Associate Dean in Teaching and Learning (UG) and Engineering Science Year 3 student Lau Sum. They have talked about how studying Engineering in the new norm was relevant to the living. Lau Sum had also shared his experience in participating the exchange programme, the student experiential learning activities and as a member of the Dean’s Club.

The Faculty had arranged 2 virtual live tour sessions to introduce the new iconic landmark of Faculty of Engineering “Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing”. Dr. C.K. Chui (Director of Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing) had guided the audience to have a sneak peek of this world-class maker space to the audiences.
