Double Degree for students admitted in 2010-11

For students admitted in 2010/11 only

Commencing from 2007/2008, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business and Economics jointly offer the double degree programme in BEng/BBA.

Features of the Scheme

  • This is an inter-disciplinary programme in which students will acquire knowledge in both Engineering and Business.
  • Students will undertake three years of study in BEng with a number of courses in Business. After completion, students will obtain a degree of BEng.
  • Students who are able to complete the BEng programme will be admitted to the fourth year of study leading to the degree of BBA with one of the following majors: Finance, Human Resource Management or Marketing.
  • The fourth year is offered on self-financing basis*. Students who decide not to take the fourth year may be awarded with a minor as specified by the Faculty of Business and Economics, if they have completed not less than 36 credit-units of courses in compliance with the syllabuses for the minor programme concerned.

*  The fourth year of this double-degree programme is offered on self-financing basis, which means that the tuition fee for this year will be higher than the standard fee applicable to the Government-funded programmes. The exact amount will be announced at a later stage. Students enrolled in the fourth year may apply for financial assisatance under the Government Non-means Tested Loan Scheme, subject to the prevailing regulations of the Sceme.

Entrance Requirements

To be admitted to the double-degree programme, JUPAS applicants should:

  • meet the minimum entrance requirement of the respective BEng programme;
  • meet the minimum entrance requirement of the BBA programme; and
  • obtain an average score of 3.5 or above in 2AL+1AS subjects (other than Use of    English and Chinese Language and Culture subjects) and grade D or above in Use of English subject in HKALE.

All EAS students who have chosen the double-degree option are eligible for admission. Non-JUPAS applicants will be considered on the basis of individual merit.

Programme Structure

In addition to the normal requirements of the BEng degree programmes, students are required to complete 57 credits of business courses during their study for BEng degree.
