Congratulations to Professor Ron Hui, Professor Edmund Lam, Professor Kenneth Wong, Dr Chan Kwok Leung and for their outstanding achievements in teaching and research!
The HKU Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony 2019 was held on October 20, at Rayson Huang Theatre, HKU. Dean of Engineering Professor Christopher Chao, family, and colleagues attended the ceremony to share their joy.

Professor Ron Hui of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was awarded the Distinguished Research Achievement Award. It is the highest honour for excellence in research bestowed in HKU. It gives recognition to academics who have exceptional research achievements of international distinction and are at the forefront of their discipline. This is a biannual award and Professor Hui is the first engineering researcher who got this award in the recent 2 decades.
In addition, Professor Edmund Lam and Professor Kenneth Wong of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was awarded respectively. Professor Lam was awarded “Outstanding Researcher Award” for his exceptional research accomplishments of international merit while Professor Wong was awarded “Outstanding Research Student Supervisor Award” in recognition for the guidance to his research postgraduate students for pursuing research excellence.
Last but not the least, Dr Chan Kwok Leung of Department of Mechanical Engineering was awarded “Outstanding Young Researcher Award” which aims to give recognition to young researchers who are demonstrating extremely high-quality research.
