Senior Members of SPIE
Professor Kevin Tsia, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was selected as the Senior Members of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). This honor recognised scientific excellence and achievements, as well as involvement in the optics community.
2021 British Geotechnical Association Medal winning paper
Dr Sérgio D.N. Lourenço, Department of Civil Engineering, won the 2021 British Geotechnical Association Medal winning paper for research paper titled “Evolution of surface roughness of single sand grains with normal loading”. The study offered insight into how surface roughness might decrease or increase depending on the magnitude of the applied loading and its effect on the asperities and the bulk.
