Shenzhen-Hong Kong Intelligent Transport Forum and the Opening Ceremony for HKU-Qianhai Institute of Intelligent Transport were held in Qianhai on April 26, 2023. Esteemed guests, including Professor Max Shen, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor David Srolovitz, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Professor Ning Xi, Head of Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems and representatives from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering and the Department of Civil Engineering, were invited to the forum.

The HKU Engineering team participated in exchanging ideas and exploring collaboration opportunities with government officials, industry leaders, and researchers from Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The forum featured experts in smart logistics and transport from academia and industry, who presented significant research outcomes and applications related to topics such as smart cross-border logistics, autonomous driving, on-demand mobility services, smart city public transport, artificial intelligence in traffic control, electric vehicle planning and operations, smart airport operations, and transport systems optimization. During the roundtable session, guest speakers expressed their belief that the collaboration platform established by the University of Hong Kong and the Authority of Qianhai had opened up further opportunities for science and technology development in the Greater Bay Area. They believed that HKU's research outcomes could be effectively translated into significant smart city applications in Qianhai, and expressed their hope for continued collaboration and innovation in the field of smart transport and logistics.
