Medical Engineering student wins Silver Award at the ASM Technology Award 2018

Abdul Latif Motan Daniyal, a Medical Engineering student, won a Silver Award of the ASM Technology Award 2018 with his outstanding and innovative project named “Development of a Novel Integrated Iuminaire System for Pediatric Tumor Surgeries”. The student was supervised by Mr Stuart Moran, Dr Kevin Tsia, and Dr Kenneth K.Y. Wong. He was awarded a scholarship of HK$30,000 and will be invited to the Technology Tour to Munich, Germany organized by ASM Pacific Technology Limited in early December 2018.

ME PhD student wins The Best Presentation Award in 2018 Croucher Summer Course on Neutron Scattering

Wang Chen, a year 2 PhD student supervised by Dr Chen Yue in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, won the best presentation award in 2018 Croucher Summer Course on Neutron Scattering. His presentation entitled “Inelastic Neutron Scattering Data Analysis on Silicon” incorporates experimental neutron scattering data and theoretical studies based on density functional theory and molecular dynamics simulations during his PhD study at HKU.

 

 

EEE student is awarded in PIERS 2018

Chen Menglin, a student supervised by Dr Jiang Lijun of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, won the 3rd prize of PIERS 2018 Best Student Paper Award in Toyama, Japan.  The paper is entitled “Orbital Angular Momentum Generation Using Composite Quasi-continuous Metasurfaces with a Perfect Efficiency,” and was co-authored by Chen Menglin and Dr Jiang Lijun.

CS Team wins the 1st Runner-up at ACM-HK Programming Contest 2018

Team "-- Div3 Borderline --", consisted of Kwok Kin Hei (BEng(CS)-Year 2), Hui Pak Nam (BEng(CS)-Year 4) and Huang Qingwei, (BEng(CS)-Year 4), got the 1st Runner-up at the annual ACM-HK Programming Contest held on June 23, 2018 in the City University of Hong Kong. They competed with over 30 teams from other tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and Macau.
