Powering a Sustainable Generation Scholarship by CLP

Dec 16, 2016

“Powering a Sustainable Generation Scholarship by CLP (中電可持續發展獎學金)” Award Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on December 2, 2016 (Fri). Two outstanding students, Mr. ZHOU Jingran, Year 2 student of Department of Computer Science, and Mr. CHAN Kwun Hang, Year 3 student of Department of Mechanical Engineering have been awarded to undertake one semester of exchange study in Princeton University, USA, and Monash University, Australia, respectively.

“I am one of the awardees of the Powering Sustainable Generation Scholarship in 2016. The scholarship not only lighten my financial burden for the exchange in Australia, it also provides me an internship opportunity to work in CLP helping me to understand the power industry and prepare for the career. I express my gratitude for HKU provide me a great learning platform. Also, I do appreciate CLP recognizes my effort and I will keep doing my best in my future study.”

CHAN Kwun Hang

“I'd like to again express my gratitude to both the Faculty of Engineering and CLP. Without the recognition of my abilities which are fostered by the supportive HKU faculty, I would never have the chance to get exchange experience at Princeton University. Apart from that, CLP has not only generously sponsored my study at Princeton, but also offered me a summer IT internship tailored to my interests and strengths. I genuinely hope to repay the kindness one day.

Finally, I have a few thoughts to share with my fellow schoolmates. Be aware that the Faculty of Engineering and HKU as a whole are abundant in resources and opportunities, and like CLP, there are corporations that will hold your capacity in high regard. Be confident, seek out opportunities, and take risks when appropriate.”

ZHOU Jingran
BEng(CompSc)-II

The Scholarship supports students' participation in outgoing exchange programme at overseas universities that enhance their international exposure and learning. Mr. Zhou and Mr. Chan will join CLP as interns and be named as CLP Scholars to serve as ambassadors for both CLP and HKU.
