Under the Common Code Admission, students can apply for any one of the following 11 BEng programmes via a single code JS6963:

Admission Policies

The HKU Faculty of Engineering introduced the common admission scheme in 2008-09, through which applicants can use one single code 6963 to apply for 11 BEng programmes.

Commencing from 2012-13, a quota of 120 will be imposed for BEng programmes offered by each department of the Faculty of Engineering. Students can choose their desired study programme after their first year of study, on the basis of academic performance.


BEng in Engineering Science [BEng(EngSc) - JS6951] (subject to approval)

The Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Science is a new programme to be offered in 2012-13. This is a highly flexible programme aiming at grooming students with solid foundation and analytical skills required for multi-disciplinary studies, with specialization in an engineering discipline or other disciplines.

Admission Requirements
BEng Programmes (JS6963) and BEng(EngSc) (JS6951)

Applicants with Hong Kong Diploma in Secondary Education (HKDSE) qualification shall satisfy the following requirements:

Level 3 in Extended Module 1 or 2 of Mathematics is preferred but not required.

Applicants with other qualifications, such as GCE-A level, IB, Associate Degree and Higher Diploma and Mainland students will be considered on an individual merit basis.
